Teresa was born and raised in Chesterfield, VA and began dancing at the age of two when she fell in love with the art. In her adolescence, at age 12 Teresa was already attending annual dance conventions to better learn her art so that one day she could teach it to others. Even at the age of 12 Teresa was a teacher's assistant to her dance instructor and was already developing choreography for musicals and choral productions at Monacan High School. Teresa continued her dance training through high school where she decided it was to be her life. Attending Virginia Commonwealth University she chose dance and choreography as her major where she graduated with her B.F.A. There she danced with the VCU dance company participating in and choreographing numerous routines and productions, honeing the skills that would later give her her dream. In 1988 after college Teresa opened Teresa's School of Dance where she would be the owner as well as the Artistic Director for the next 12 years. Throughout her career in dance Teresa has studied with many great dance artists and has enjoyed passing the art of dance to the students she instructs, both children and adults. In 1990 Teresa founded the Dynamic Dance Company; this gave her students an opportunity to compete, share, and professionally develop their love of dance. Teresa has since enjoyed teaching Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, and Modern Dance over her career; she is proud of her students and takes pride in instilling this art into those who love it like she does. Teresa has resisded in Powhatan for the past 20 years where she is now with her three sons. Teresa still enjoys dancing and is bringing her love of it along with all of her experience to Sound Movement!
