The 4th Annual Sound Movement Studio Show is our huge end of the year production that involves every student! This show is a mixture of Dancers, Musicians, Singers, and Thespians all rolled into one action packed performance. This show will feature choreography from our teaching staff and performances by each class with a variety of dance and music styles from Rock to Classical, Ballet to Clogging. The show is formatted in such a way that it is entertaining and fast paced with never a dull moment. The Show is open to the public and tickets will be sold online or at the door beginning May 1st 2012. This show is professionally organized and ran for maximum enjoyment from both the audience and performers; DVDs, flowers, refreshments and more will be available. Our Annual Show dates are confirmed and are as follows:

Title: BLOCKING/TECH REHEARSAL
Attendance: EVERYONE
Audience: CLOSED
Dress: CLASS ATTIRE, please arrive dressed and ready to begin,
When: TH JUNE 14th 6pm
Where: POWHATAN HIGH SCHOOL
This rehearsal is our first run-through of the show on stage. It is so that the performers can have their opportunity to practice their routines and songs on the stage in the auditorium. This is also so that the technical staff can make adjustments and choreograph their equipment with the needs of the show. Each act will go on stage once, no necessarily in show order and once all of your numbers are done performers can leave.

Title: DRESS REHEARSAL
Attendance: EVERYONE
Audience: LIMITED
Dress: FULL COSTUME DRESS and MAKEUP, please arrive promptly and report to your dressing room.
When: FRI JUNE 15th 5pm, starts at 6pm
Where: POWHATAN HIGH SCHOOL
This is a full run of the show from beginning to end as it will be on performance night. Each act will go in show order form beginning to end. This is to get the performers more comfortable on stage and to get a feel for the show order so that they feel confident on show night and they can just have fun! Please, no one should be leaving early on this day we need all performers until the end.

Title: PERFORMANCE
Attendance: EVERYONE
Audience: OPEN
Dress: FULL COSTUME DRESS and MAKEUP, please arrive promptly and report to your dressing room.
When: SAT JUNE 16th 430-5pm, show starts at 6pm
Where: POWHATAN HIGH SCHOOL
It’s Show Night!! Relax, have fun, and break a leg! No One should leave before the end of the show because everyone is needed for the Finale

The Summer Musical information is posted on the Theatre page and is going to be awesome! We have two productions to choose from depending on enrollment because one has a larger cast size that the other. This year’s selections are Annie JR and Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Kids! Both of these musicals are awesome and licensed and are sure to be a hit!

Also the Events Page has been updated with out current events on the calendar! The VA Dance festival benefiting the Children’s Hospital Foundation is on Jan 28th and will feature Sound Movement check the link for performance times. The VA Health System Day of Dance on Feb 25th is an event we are participating in with free classes and workshops that Sat from 10am-2pm! A physician will be on hand to give free health screens and promote heath and fitness!

Lots of exciting things going on and we are privileged to be a part of them! Come out and support the Arts and Health!

EXCITING NEWS!!
Sound Movement will be opening a second location, in addition to our current location, this summer! Studio B will be located in the South Creek Shopping Center in Powhatan VA (where the new Food Lion is) and will be open in time for our Fall 2011-2012 season to begin!!

We are so excited to add this new chapter to Sound Movement’s Journey and we are proud and blessed to have such wonderful and talented performers and their supportive parents with us! You all rock!

This years Open House will take place on:
Saturday July 16th
and will be held from 12:00pm to 5:00pm

This years fun packed event will be a time that you can come in and check out everything that Sound Movement has to offer! Instructors will be available that day to answer all your questions about our programs and to make recommendations on classes. Our music staff will be available to let you try any of the instruments that we offer so you can chose the one that is right for you.

We will have information on dance-wear as well as instrument purchase and rental available so that we can cover everything that you will need to keep going or get started.

There will be refreshments as well as music and games for the little ones so you can make this a fun stop for everyone, so bring the whole family.

Anyone registering at the open house even will receive a $10 gift certificate towards studio services!!

We will also be raffling off a GUITAR!! The drawing for the Fender Squire Mini Electric Guitar will take place that afternoon! You do not have to be present to win, tickets are $5.
